The BPA works to promote the study of philosophy in higher and secondary education and to support professional philosophers, including representing their interests to government.
- #PhilosophyMatters – we are launching a new campaign to emphasise the importance of philosophy, including British Philosophy Fortnight
- Creating resources to support early career philosophers.
- Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion – the BPA is coordinating research to address underrepresentation in philosophy in the UK, building on previous initiatives including the BPA-SWIP Good Practice Scheme.
- We are working to develop offerings for A-level and possibly GCSE philosophy, with the Association of Philosophy Teachers,
- We also support and advocate for philosophy departments under threat of closure or redundancies.
Other recent initiatives include:
- Collaborating to establish the Association of Philosophy Teachers, a subject association for philosophy teachers working in schools and other settings.
- BPA Policy and Strategy includes a record of our consultations, position papers on issues concerning academic philosophy, and open letters in support of philosophers and their departments under threat.
